Today is a celebration in time for Ashtyn…it’s her fifth birthday. One of those landmark moments in every ones life. Pretty soon she will be on her way to pre-teen, teen, etc. Man they do grow up fast. For them age can’t come soon enough…for us it would be nice if they never got to that age of rebellion, stubbornness etc. But soon her dependence on the rest of us will wane and she will see us all as dead weight keeping her down. It’s a shame that so much time is wasted through the years as family members grow up and grow old. We all have our set in stone notions that do nothing but aggravate the others. Teenagers wanting to be adults, adults not wanting the teens to grow up too fast. The generational gap that is all too often unavoidable and sometimes hard to deal with. It would be nice if all of us both young and old could get past ourselves and let those we love be themselves. But that would be like cats and dogs living in harmony.
Didn’t want this to be a sermon, it started out to be an announcement but digressed into a rant. Guess that’s why it says Curmudgeon at the top of the page. Seems I don’t heed my own words. Oh well…
Sooner or later I may grow up, until then…I must be off.
