We got home earlier this afternoon and have managed to unload, unpack, put away, make coffee and visit with Jen and Ashtyn. Man…the mail was the biggest chore, it really piles up in just a week. Bills, offers, and magazines…there was a heaping pile of it on the counter waiting for us. Jen and Ashtyn decided to stay here and house sit while we were gone so they were bringing in the mail and generally keeping an eye on things for us.
Posted some more pictures of the cabin we stayed in to Flickr. Some were taken last night and a couple were taken this morning. It was a very pleasant last day to a much needed getaway.
By the way, I had mentioned in an earlier post some news that I would share later. That news was the purchase of our new car that you have probably noticed in a picture or two from the last week. The reason I didn’t say anything was to keep it a secret from our son until we got to Maine. Not that any of this is worth mentioning…there you have it.
Oh, the car is a 2008 Taurus X AWD…and it was a joy to ride and drive on our long trip. Pretty good mileage as well. We averaged 24 mpg during the whole trip in all different kinds of driving. And the AWD came in handy yesterday and this morning as we had to navigate through some steep grades of loose gravel on our way in and out of the cabin site. So, on the whole, the new car seems to fit our needs perfectly.
I think that should wrap it up for now as I need to make preparations for getting back to work tonight.
